Today borrowed YX's Nikon D70 to get a feel of using a DSLR... orginally wanted to snap some pics of Lee Min Ho, who's supposed to officiate the opening of Etude House @ PS... but alas, the event was cancelled at the eleventh hour!
Ruby & I decided to go to Clarke Quay instead to test the camera. Really not use to snapping pics via the viewfinder, as there's no live view mode... my main issue is the weight & this model with its 200mm lens is indeed heavy for us! At Central mall, we were surprised that it's relatively quiet, given that it's a sat evening... Only a few restaurants had queues. We opted for this Watami Japanese Casual Restaurant since it's prices seems affordable & decent. The menu looked tantalising.... Ruby opted for the Sapporo Ramen, while i ordered the seafood garlic rice, served in a sizzling hot pot! Well, my conclusion was....portion decent, reasonable prices but taste so-so only! The ramen was not 'springy' enuf, abit too hard & there's only corn & cabbages garnishing in the soup :( The garlic rice contained raw salmon, scallops & small prawns....but very soon were 'cooked' by the heating stone... it tasted very blend to me & need a dosage of shoyu to add flavour. The beef roll we wanted to try was sold out... so unable review that. I ate a huge portion of the rice & helped Ruby to finish her ramen... end up i had no more tummy space to contain the desserts! Well, if you r on a budget & not too picky, maybe this is a suitable dining place. The service was impressive thou' & we realised all the waiting staff r foreigners.
After filling our tummies, we strolled down the riverside to test the camera... there was a bazzar in the heart of Clarke Quay & the pubs had roaring business. We observed a throng of expats & tourists milling around, basking in the vibrant night scene. As we walked past the turkish ice-cream stall, saw a platform with ppl posing wif artificial pumpkins! Really cute leh! I wanted to take the pics, but not sure if it's chargeable since there's an official photographer around. There were some pretty ladies dishing out flyers promoting the Halloween Nite next sat. Outside Hooters, we also saw 2 costume clad fellow, 1 was witchy (minus a broom), the other was droused in bloody make-up. While i was focusing on the witchy lady, the 'bloody' guy zoomed upfront into my cam & for that second, gave me the chills! His make-up looked horrific & he was so into his role, going around scaring ppl! Many visitors were amused, wanted to pose wif him... 1 uncle even tried to inmitate his expressions LoL!
I bet next weekend will be bustling wif ppl walking around in weird/funny costumes...haha!
