听说：“大难不死必有后福”，这句话在今天下午体会到了。。。险些不可能写我的博客了。
During a casual chat last month wif denise & her bf ~ ZL, we were talking abt taking pics at the railway... i was curious how could we be near the railway track to snap a shot in Sg? ZL said he know of somewhere in Holland Village & promised to show us the way. As such, i tot we would go there to have a look today but there was a chg of plan & denise msg me that we would go to S'pore Quarry @ Bt.Timah first... Since I had never been there before, decided to follow their plans...
Upon arrival at Little India, there was a torrential t-storm! We were stuck & wonder wat would be the chances that we could proceed wif our photography... Nevertheless, ZL sugg that we board the bus to The Rail Mall @ Bukit Timah first... After quite a long journey, we stopped by Ah Mei Cafe for tea-break & the storm actually stopped! Juz 5 mins into our nature trail, beads of pespiration flowed down my temples... 3 of us strolled under the extremely humid & cloudy skies, stopping along the way to observe the flora & fauna... Denise & me went clicking away, while ZL kept looking out for queer insects & spider-webs, haha!
Before long, we saw the signages showing the area's map... we walked up a trail lined wif purplish pink flowers & stepped into Singapore Quarry. As the skies were shrouded in thick clouds, there was little contrast in the pics of the quarry. The water was milky after the rain too, but carps were swimming gladily! The humid weather affected my mood & got abit bored... So I decided to experiment the Bokeh effect (blurred bckgrd) on the rain-bathed flowers for the 1st time... I'm thrilled when I reviewed the effect I wana achieved ^_^
On our way re-tracing our steps, ZL discovered an off the beaten track among the bushes & ushered us to follow him... Wif a 'slope phobia', i traversed the muddy terrain cautiously & gripped my SLR firmly. After getting thru, we were standing on a granite bridge over-seeing the railway track... somehow the sense of adventure overcame us & we straddled further down to the track. On the bridge, I mentioned that I saw the train schedule stated there would be a train departing Sg to M'sia at 4.30pm... but i'm not too sure of its accuracy or when it would by-pass here. As we saw it was all clear on the track, I proceeded to step onto the rail for juz a couple of quick-shots... Denise & me were standing back to back, each facing 1 direction, wif ZL overseeing us. Then, I turned round & asked ZL if he could help us snap a pic? But alas, ZL & me spotted an approaching train & he shouted!!! Denise & me quickly ran off & our minds simply went blank... It was a close brush wif death indeed. I managed to snap a clear shot of the train that sent our adrenaline rushing... After the train left, 3 of us were as if 魂魄飞散 & I tink we need a dose of calming medicine!
After calming ourselves, we strolled back to The Rail Mall to wait for ZL's buddy ~ Xiong, who is also a photography buff. We went to another part of the railway, again discovered by ZL... when we heard the train's whistle, we tot this time we would be more ready & stand a safe distance away... But guess wat? It's an empty trailer whistling past & we were fooled, haha! When Xiong came, we were wondering where to go next as it's abit early for dinner... Finally, after much indecisiveness, Xiong proposed a 10mins drive to West Coast Park. This is the first time i see WCP in daylight & we had a leisure stroll exploring the park... It's a relaxing sunset stroll along the sea-side. Wif much of the setting sun hidden by the thick clouds, I juz try to make the best of the situation, snapping interesting sights along the way.
As dusk falls, we made our way to the alfresco tze-char stall @ ulu pandan... the guys ordered many dishes in large servings! Sambal stingray, fried kai lan, fried squids, oatmeal prawns & pork ribs wif salted egg filled our table! My fav would be the last two dishes & after our scrumptious meal, there was even longan tofu dessert! After some chatting, I bidded goodbye to the trio & ended the eventful day.
P.S: i realised it's a natural human instinct to fear death, however i guess i won't have much reservation if i died while doing something i enjoy immersely... cos life & death is fated anyway.
