Clara & I decided to head to 313 @ Somerset to check out the new kid on the block ~ RamenPlay. I had a craving for ramen for the past few days after reading chinese paper's reviews on various new ramen outlets in town.
The big boys behind RamenPlay is none others than BreadTalk Group & its partner ~ Sanpou Co from Japan. It was relatively easy to decide what i should order as we flipped the menu... I decided to try the restaurant's speciality, Sanpou Ton Ramen ~ which consists of 'pork cheeks'. If u remember my earlier post abt Santouka @ CQ, I intend to make a comparison to see which is nicer! Clara had the Tonkotsu Ramen & we were veri much tempted by the various side orders available. We finally decided on the Miso Pork Roll, which are actually deep fried pork cutlets, filled wif cheese, carrots & asparagus. We also ordered 3 pieces of Dango (hv 6 pieces too).
Suprisingly, the waiting time was short & the hungry me was juz too glad to see the 2 side dishes arriving! I like the presentation of the Miso Pork Rolls, which came wif a condiment sauce & lemon slice. There's only 4 slices of pork cutlets, but juz nice for both of us...It's crispy & the veg inside were crunchy! I love the sauce & kept on dipping it ^o^ As for the Dango, tink of Tako balls & tis version is soft to the bite, wif minced pork as fillings.
When my Sanpou Ton Ramen arrived, the serving was huge! There's 2 slices of pork cheeks, 2 thick cubes + 3 huge slices of the normal char siew. As can be seen fr my pic, there's also a half-boiled egg & lotsa bamboo shoots inside. Thou i prefer the Santouka's pork cheeks, RamenPlay's serving is worth the $14.80 (bef svc chrg + gst). Overrall, it's tasty & filling. Santouka's one cost 5 bucks more. One unique thing here were the condiments on the table, wif their in-house fried garlic, chilli & seaweed. But i did not add any of those, while Clara tried the fried garlic. After our fulfilling dinner, we went shopped around 313.
After a brief digestive walk, we hopped over to Cineleisure as i wanted to buy advance movie tix & try Frolicks frozen youghurt. I ordered the big one, which allowed us to select any 2 toppings... Today's flavour was Peach! We opted for longans & marshmallows as toppings. Wow! It looked really yummylicious! Indeed, it's a good respite from the humid evening ;-)
Hmm....we really pig-out tonite wo! Mission accomplished - Ramen Tasting!
