Two weeks flew past in a twinkle of the eyes! Omg! After much hype & small glitches along the way, the YOG had its official closing ceremony on thursday... For the past two wks, I felt that i need to complete exploring The Promontory @ Marina Bay area... today is ideal as the crowd in that area would be gone! Besides aspiring to improve my skills, I also wanted to show my parents this 'new kid on the block' area!
At 6pm, we set off via bus to Raffles Place... i suggested that we would hv dinner at Golden Cafe, the same coffeeshop i visited wif denise 2 wks ago. I put up a disclaimer 1st, cos i not sure if their tze cha (stir-fried dishes) were as gd as it used to be, since the lemon chix rice i had 2 wks back was disappointing. As the only grp of customer at the coffeeshop, the waiting staff kept hover ard us... We ended up ordering a vegetarian dish (羅漢齋), egg-tofu in sweet chilli sauce (三味豆腐) + pineapple pork ribs (鳳梨排骨)... Oops, no pics of the food as we were famished & gobbled the food! The pork ribs was huge & tender, thou it took the longest time to be served! It was delectable indeed! Phew, luckily the food was gd & economical... else i would be 'complained', haha!
From Circular Road, we strolled back to Raffles Place MRT, to use the underpass leading to One Raffles Quay... I took the familiar exit again (but now i noe there's a direct exit to Promontory) haha! My assistant for the evening is none other but my dad! Bef long i realised my new assistant does irritate me @ times! When i set up my tripod, he would be nagging & question if i really know how to do it! Aiyo! I can now set up pretty fast, but wif someone grumbling besides me, i got confused & started to wonder how come i couldn't do as well as i usually did!
We started venturing from Custom House & Fullerton Bay Hotel as previously this path leading in was closed during YOG. Then, i returned to the spot where i took fireworks pics, to test out the DIY lens hood my dad made... He shld be given the credit for his creativity cos i lamented the original Canon lens hood was too shallow & not worth my investment (40bucks for a thin piece of plastic!) ...so he had to create a better one! After 1 wk of modification, it was finally 'born'! Shall save my mola for the filters i'm eyeing (^_^) At tis juncture, I'm glad my long exposure shot to achieve a 'smooth water' feel was successful!
Then, i told my parents we need explore further but my dad was veri impatient & walked so fast ... i also hate people who tell me to 'HURRY UP!'(快點啦!) or 'R u done?' (好了沒有?) while i'm trying to create the perfect shot! At one point, i told my dad, ''eh... shld learn how to relax lah! why in such a hurry?'' i really dun see why we need to rush, it's still pretty early at 8+pm! My sight was set to walk up to Marina Bay Sands! It's meant to be a relaxing stroll after dinner too!
Finally, we got to the broadwalk area & this is the part i been wanting to visit, else it doesn't complete my exploration of The Promontory @ Marina Bay! Over here, there's the environment friendly cool breezers, which r giant fans that get activated by motion sensors... the broadwalk is pretty good & nice for moon-basking, keke! It's relativly less crowded here vs the Esplanade side. Mommy complained abt the humid weather, but i felt 心境自然涼 & enjoy a slow-pace stroll while taking in the nite scene... Our small nation has develop @ such rapid speed & wif our scarce land ~ Marina Bay being reclaimed land had sprung into such a vibrant area, adding numerous new skyscrapers to our skyline!
Signs of YOG is scattered around ... ranging from a bright red artwork to the rows of palm trees planted which signify each participating nation... The illuminated blue fountains also add on to all the other 'blue' illumination sighted along the way! (started fr the pillars @ customs hse to the cool breezers & a curvy structure around the palm trees, which produce spurts of water to give u a cool respite fr the hot weather!) Finally, our exploration ended at Marina Bay Sands & only now i realise by walking this route, it lead me to the MBS' SkyPark! haha! My parting shot was a 'bronze-statue' cyclist, who's actually a performer that drew curious stares from the crowd, keke! Wif this, ended our exploration & also digested my dinner!!!
