Last evening had a pre Mid-Autumn date wif my gfs, Ruby & Zhifang... we had planned to makan in chinatown and go see the lanterns at Singapore River. We supp to mit at 6.45pm, but both were late. Zf's ofc in Suntec actually only a short distance away but guess wat? She's super duper late by 1 hr lor! Cos din think of traffic jam, still wan wait for bus. I went to get seats at Tak Po (德宝)dim sum coffee-shop, located opp the chinatown mkt. Ya, ever since i intro my gfs there, they were all praise for the cheap & nice dim sum + congee. We ordered 5 kinds of dim sum and i had pork ball congee, while ruby had chicken congee...cos they ran out of century eggs (can't eat century egg lean pork congee). Ruby commented she luv the steam Yam Cake, know her so long then i realised both of us like yam cake, haha! By time Zf arrived, we had eaten most of our food...leaving her the dim sum portions which had turned cold. We chided her for lazy to walk to City hall mrt, else would had arrived much earlier!
After dinner, was nearing 9pm liao & we strolled down the street stalls... as the gals needed to buy lanterns. I alreadi had my doraemon lantern bought last year :) There weren't really any nice lanterns & the gals were kinda disappointed. Ruby wanted a Pooh bear, but dun hv so i offered her my spare doraemon lantern. Zf was fussy, ended up wif a Mickey Mouse bright red lantern & insisted the shop-keeper find her a plastic hook, not the 'obiang' rattan kind, haahaa! Buay tahan tis gal!
When they were satisfied wif the lanterns, we went to the new temple at Chinatown to see the 12 Chinese Zodiac animals lanterns. But Zf was super selective to take pic wif which zodiac lantern...aiyo! So, we got her to practice her photography skills on us. Our 'Goat' one not cute de :( but we saw some cute ones, such as Rabbit & Rat ... kekeke! Many ppl were jostling to snap pics too so we had to be quick. You could observe which r the hot fav lanterns! Juz as we queuing for the Tiger one, a bunch of old uncles & aunties strolled past us, carrying cute electric lanterns... possessing down the lane. Got one old auntie still ''hao lian'' her lantern to Zf! haahaa!
We were all in sweat by time we completed shooting the 12 Zodiac & we carried on wif our plan to Sg River. Omg! It was one of the longest route we walked... from Maxwell Rd to Boat Quay! To our dismay, not a single floating lantern was in sight at Sg River. We decided to lit our lanterns at Boat Quay & trotter down the riverside...heehee! It was breezy & had abit of difficulty to lit the candles. Idiot Zf cursed my lantern would catch fire & i scolded her back!!! Then, Zf's bf came & became our camara-man. We re-lived our childhood by strolling wif our lanterns in hand fr Boat Quay to One Fullerton. By time we reached One Fullerton, our candles had diminished! We took out the sparkles we bought earlier & tried to lit them! Ruby was the bravo one who suddenly Lit UP, cos initial tries failed to ignite the sparkles! Zf's sudden scream gave us a fright (^0^) !
The sparkles were not fun as the colours not vibrant & burnt out in seconds! We decided to keep it till next plan outing, maybe Sentosa to play again! We strolled down One Fullerton & were perspiring like mad! It was a humid nite...we got so tired that we juz stumbled on the ground to take a rest. Maybe really 有心力不足 :( Seeing we all so tired & couldn't tahan the stickyness, i sugg we head home. Zf's bf gave us a lift back... Actually 中秋节 is my fav chinese festival, much more than 农历新年 cos there were some happy memories stuck in my mind.
