Qy's Bday Dinner @ Ootoya

It's been a long time since 4 of us mit up. All of us are busy wif our lives & it's really challenging to agree on a date where everyone can make it. One good thing is our bdays r spread quite evenly & Qy's bday falls on Nov, so we all have an excuse to 'pig out' again, hehe!  My work schedule coincided wif her bday, so we had to do a post-celebration.  Ruby's research on HGW had garnered Ootoya at Orchard Central as the choice of our dinner venue.

The japanese restaurant is situated on the 8th level of the mall. It seems a popular place & attracts japanese customers too.  As no reservation is allowed, we can only 'guai guai' take a queue number & wait for our turn. As one enters the restaurant, u will be greeted with this tatami & low dining table setting, where u can either choose to sit on the tatami or the chairs. This traditional setting probably makes u imagine urself in Japan! The menu throws up a variety of bento sets wif delectable food pics. Qy & me took quite awhile to decide...  I settled on the hamburger steak set, while bday gal have a pork set & ruby had the grilled mackerel. Zf arrived late & her order looked abit similar to Qy's, except hv some scallops?

I was told that my steak need a gd 20 mins... well, i dun mind as i'm not starving yet, hehe! Upon arrival of my hamburger steak, it certainly looks mouth watering! Wif the mushroom & onions garnishing the hamburger steak & a dollup of smash potato + some pasta as side. As only Ruby & I eat beef, i let her try some & ruby felt that Ma Maison's hamburger steak is still the best! I second her tots too, but different style of cooking & garnishing.  I'm receptive to both. This one at Ootoya is not too bad either but slightly drier, however at $17 for this set, that comes with a huge bowl of rice & miso soup, i'm satisfied wif my meal! It's a bargain lo, given that beef is usually more pricey...  the pricing here is suitable for my not-so-deep pockets.

Qy's pork set tasted like the oriental cuisine 糖醋排骨, while Ruby had all praise for her grilled mackerel, which she said is easy to de-bone....but i still shrug at the tots of patiently eating a fish, wif fear of choking on the fine bones! Our tummies were all filled to the brim & decided to take a stroll around the mall & outside.

Finally, we found ourselves at Cineleisure... You are prob rite, it's Desserts Time! We settled comfortably at Shoduku and had 2 desserts ~ Mango Ice + Red Bean Cheesecake wif a scope of Macha ice-cream to share. The cheesecake is really light & fluffy... i couldn't taste any strong Azuki flavour, which suits me perfectly. Can't comment on the macha ice-cream as i dun eat that.  Here comes my Mango Ice, yippie! All of us were stunned by the towering Mango Ice, which looks set to collapse anytime...3 types of jelly (sweet & sour) formed the toppings & the mango is really Sweet! Really lotsa satisfaction after eating the mango ice LoL.  Here's the pics for u to savour ^o^
