Lunch @ Ebiboshi Shotengai 。。。

There was alot of publicity for this new stretch of japanese restaurants @ Iluma... the press rattled positively abt them. This certainly made a foodie curious at how's the food here?

Hence, I suggested to Clara that we should chk out this place today. It's around 1pm+ & pretty quiet, compared to the long Q i saw during one of the evenings 2mths back. Initially, i tot that we can order from any of the eateries at Ebiboshi Shotengai but it turn out that u can only opt for one of the 7 eateries, each from a different jap prefecture. As both of us were famished & Clara wanna to eat ramen, we chose Menya Manpei.

At Ebiboshi chain, they invested in this high-tech food ordering system, where u use a stylus pen & scan the barcode on the menu. Then u will scan on the quantity, 'Enter' ... after u complete ur order, last step is tap on 'Send' to put thru ur orders. Ok, this part is both fun & abit 'fan'... cos everytime i scan an item, the pen will 'read' out my order... then i jokingly said 'SHUT UP!'' haha!

After some time, our Miso Ramen arrived... gosh, there's a thick layer of oil 'swimming' on the soup. Clara screamed upon tasting it, cos the soup was super salty! Then, i tried... piangz, really saltish leh! Clara complained that this was the worst ramen she ever had! The char shu also fatty. Ok, give this place a 2nd chance. Here came my Ebi Don. Oh man, the Ebi certainly doesn't look appealing to me, it looked 'soggy'. Really testing my photography skills, since the food presentation was poor. The Ebi Don tasted flat & no freshness of Ebi to mention of. Lastly, the 'Caterpillar' (as per menu) arrived, it was avocado wif eel sushi. BUT both of us stared at the sushi for few seconds... really weird to have shoyu (soya sauce) showered on the sushi? This was the first time we see sushi served this way. The sushi was the final chance but it doesn't score a single point.... again!

Clara grumbled that she tried to find a gd point but i tink we could only conclude two points... the menu technology is cool + the decor is nice.... so sad huh? Well, if dun try dun noe & i consoled her that heng ah, we ordered the less expensive ones. This is 自我安慰, haha!

Our afternoon was spent lazing at Ice Monster, which i had not stepped in for a long time. We ordered the Mango wif Strawberry Ice... When it arrived, I am abit surprised as i tot it will be served wif the strawberry fruits, but it turned out to be a scope of strawberry sorbet. This not only looked good but veri yummy too! We felt so satisfied eating the sweet & fresh mango + the strawberry sorbet tasted veri similar to the real fruit! Yum Yum! My pic below says it all :p
