Today i'm gg to rec another gd food place! So folks, i really doing my homework... i was browsing hungrygowhere.com when i stumbled upon this italian deli & pastry outlet ~ Ricciotti. The tantalising desserts pics prompted me to chk out this pl. So a couple of wks ago, while i was waiting for my bus home, i strolled over to Ricciotti to see if the menu is pricey. I will only bring frens to value for $ place lor! I was greeted by tis friendly waiter when i request to view its menu, he even asked me feel free to sit & browse! The prices & variety looks decent. The most alluring is still the mouth-watering desserts 'waving' at me fr the see-thru' fridge! I got the name card & decided next outing wif frens shld be there.
Beginning of this week, Denise & me decided to catch up wif long time no-see Gladys. As my schedule is unpredictable, i opted for Ricciotti which is juz across my office. To ensure seats, i made a reservation. Surprisingly when we went in at 7.15pm, the place was virtually empty! Denise & I were so hungry that we decided to order something 1st. As it's our 1st visit, i decided to chk wif tt same waiter whom i met earlier for some recommendations. We were told the pizza is 11-inches in size and cut into 8 slices. We opted for the Prosciutto E Funghi as our starter since i can't visualise how big is the pizza. When it was served shortly, we went...'Wow! looks good!'', it's abt the size of a large pizza hut's one! The key difference was its crispy and thin crust, topped wif ham, mushrooms, pomodoro & mozzarella cheese. In my hunger, i forgot to snap a pic of the pizza! haha! One of the waiters even ask if we need Tobasco sauce to go with but after tasting, Denise decided to savour it's original flavour!
When Gladys arrived, she wanted to try the pasta. Again, we were quite undecided and opted for the Penne Al Pollo - penne with chicken, mushrooms in cream sauce. We also ordered a snack ~ Suppli', which contains 5 rice balls stuffed with beef ragu and mozzarella cheese. Our above pics showed that. The rice balls was not what i expected to be :( Cos denise & I are beef-lovers but the minced beef was too little till i practically couldn't taste it. The outer crust was crunchy thou'. 3 of us also dislike the penne as the sauce & cheese was extremely thick & strong! Luckily was shared and we din finish tt. We were pretty much filled up by then as i had 'polished' up 2.5 slices of pizza, 2 rice balls and a bit of penne. My objective was to digest & make space in my tummy to savour the desserts ah! Slightly past 9pm, we decided to see the display to order our desserts. Then, Gladys pointed out a signage that says, 50% off all desserts after 9pm! Wow! We were spoilt for choices & see till blur! Finally, we ordered the Soffiato, which means ''puffed'' in italian. The menu describes Soffiato as ''warm chocolate cake served with chocolate chip ice cream''! In fact, we only saw that scope of ice cream when served to us! kekeke! We had Tiramisu too ~ it's mascarpone cheese cake with ladyfinger biscuits, coffee & cocoa. All of us agreed that the Soffiato was really really delizioso (yummy in italian)!!! As i ate a scope of the cake oozing with the warm choc + a spoon of cold ice cream, the warm & cold fusion was really buds tantalising! Denise found the Tiramisu's coffee too strong but i found it ok...while Gladys was too full to finish up the Tiramisu, haha!
We spent 3hrs at Riccioti and i do like the friendly service and of course, no doubts about its in-house desserts! Oh ya, one impt thing we discovered when we foot the bill... it's either u enjoy 50% of desserts (aft 9pm) OR 15% off total bill with uob credit card, whichever is higher. In the end, we utilised our cr card discount and each of us paid $18. I wan eat the Soffiato & try out the other desserts, such as its home-made gelato on next visit!
