Juz 3 mths ago, we booked our air tix and finally at the countdown of my blog's counter... my buddy ~ Ruby & I were on our way to Taiwan! It's a trip that we had talked about for some years but always hard to sync our schedules. I didn't really sleep much, juz caught forty-winks & arrived at Changi Airport at 5.40am. Our check-in was a breeze and the boarding gate was not even open when we arrived! This was also our 1st try of TransAsia (復興航空), a full-fledged taiwanese airline. After breakfast on board, they were a row of empty seats behind us, so i got to occupy the row to nap! Both of us were so tired & slept thru' without realising the air stewardess had distributed the immigrations cards! haha!
Upon landing at Taoyuan International Airport, we purchased coach tickets heading to Taichung Railway Station... The bus journey turned out to be longer than expected & we arrived around 3.30pm. Our Zaw Jung Business Hotel was a short walk away & it's recommended by Ruby. Our executive room was clean & spacious! The conceirge even chk wif us wat time we would like our breakfast be served to our room! This is surely a FIRST for us! After a short rest,we headed out to Taichung Station's bus stop.... wanted to make our way to Feng Jia Night Market... but alas! We forgot we dun hv small chg to take bus. Hence, we got to wait again for the next bus... juz then, ruby suggested why not we head to the nearer Yi Zhong Street (一中街) instead?
Upon arrival at Yi Zhong Street, we immediately wana find an eatery to fill our tummy! Famished! We chanced upon this japanese pork chop eatery (好知家). The set meals looked great and we opted for the Katsu Don wif Bubble Tea. This place turned out to be run by Gong Cha (貢茶)! The serving was humongous & ruby immediately said that she couldn't finish, haha! Din expect our first dinner in taiwan would be completed wif bubble tea too, perfect!
It's a Tuesday evening but the night market here was pretty crowded that created an illusion that it's a wkend! We saw many old-school arcade games lining the street and trendy shops contrasting the environment. There's a number of theme restaurants in the area too, very much appealing to the young crowd! We were tempted to buy some sparkles but both of us dared not lit! Wat a pity! Then, we past by a stall selling strawberries! It's rather unique as the strawberries were placed in cups & drowsed wif condensed milk. We bought a small cup & love the sweetness! It's the strawberries season in Taiwan now.
The night temperature was around 11 - 12 degrees & we felt cold walking on the windy streets... A few hours later, we wanted to find a place to snack & rest our tired legs. We saw a pizza place and were surprised by the offered price...happily we went in & were told there's a minimum spent of NT300 per pax! Hence, we left & walked further down... Saw a cute thematic dessert place wif 2-storeys. We went up & discovered a cosy cafe, which we could snap some pics & ordered a mixed fruits waffles. The waffles were nicely presented but the accompanying fruits were rather sour! It would be perfect if the fruits were tasty too :( After a gd rest, we boarded a taxi back to hotel for an early rest.
