1 Mar... met up wif Ruby at City Hall station. Originally planned a game of bowling, but it din materialise, heehee! I sugg to check out Shokudo located at Raffles city's basement. As i couldn't recall its' name & the basement was huge, we spent abiet of time locating it amidst some shopping. I first read abt it as a Marche, Jap-style concept stall fr the Sunday Times 2 wkends ago & subsq Elene told me she tried & found it good!
5.30pm: Both of us were feeling hungry & finally caught sight of Shokudo tucked in the far end of the basement. We decided to chk out the place, bef it gets swarmed wif dining crowd. The ambience & decor for a marketplace eatery impressed me. I observed tt it's interior designers put in place, wif samurai swords, wooden panels etc tt creates the ''japanese dining feel''. Alas, i din bring my digi cam. So i had to make do wif my hp to take the food pics later. Upon entry, the staff asked if we r first-timers & explained tt if lost the swipe card, will fine $100 each, heehee! Also gave us a chinese chess piece, wif the word '預定' to reserve our table, when we go to order food. The air-con was v strong & the whole place quite huge, lined up wif so many stalls...serving a huge variety. We could find booths selling Teppanyaki, grilled sticks, sushi, ramen, don, pizzas, jap-western styled hamburgers, pasta, omu rice, miso soups, jap-styled crepes, desserts booth serving ice-cream, crepes & waffles wif various toppings choices. Omg! We were spoilt for choices but as only 2 of us... we decided to juz try a few dishes tis time round.
At the grilled skewers booth, costing $2.5o per stick for meat/seafood sticks and $2 for Shitake mushrooms/veg sticks.
We ordered 1 terriyaki, 1 bacon-wrapped prawn, 1 Shitake Mushroom. Was told to return 10mins later to pick-up. We ordered a plate of Omu-rice with sausage + a western set - Terriyaki Chicken wif sunny-side up egg Burger, served wif lettuce & fries. For drinks, we had the citrius fruit wif honey which sooth our throats! The omu-rice was so-so, if compared to Ma Maison's. But the sausage is nice wo! For the grilled skewers, both of us love the bacon-wrapped prawns and Shitake Mushroom, which was lightly grilled to the point... not overdone :)
We were quite full aft polishing up all these, but we had targeted to try the dessert booth! So off we went to order a Waffle & agreed upon the Honey Melon Ice-cream served on top of our piping hot waffle. Woo! The waffle was so soft ! I had never eaten such soft , yet crispy waffle bef! The ice-cream is heavenly & i regretted not adding one more scope! Haahaa!
By the time we left ard 730pm, a long Q was formed outside the outlet! We wld surely return to this place wif our frens & try out other dishes! We paid abt $20 per pax, pretty decent prices...only grouse was the unattentive chefs or helpers & it Qs were not moving fast enuf.
