Had wanted to visit the Marina Barrage ~ Singapore's city reservoir since it opens. Finally got the chance to do it today. At around 7+ pm, my frens & I boarded the train from City Hall to Marina Bay station & took the shuttle bus. The location is about 5 mins away from Marina Bay. As Ruby had visited recently, she led us to the fountain area. As dusk falls, the fountains dance to the changing neon lights. Zf was not even aware of this new place & i joked that we r bringing her on an educational tour, keke!
Basically, there's nothing much at this moment, the only bustle was from a nearby steamboat restaurant. A quiet place to take a stroll after our dinner... we whipped out our cams & took shoots of the fountains... As we began to walk up the path leading to the roof top garden, chilly winds made me felt that temp had dipped to less than 20 degrees? The reward for braving the winds was to see the Singapore Flyer, rotating against the skyline... Many photo enthusiasts brought their DSLR to snap pics too.
So what is this place actually? In simple terms, a barrage is a dam ... it's built as a flood control and during high tides, the sea water will be purged back to the sea to prevent flooding in low lying areas. Being a reservoir, it provides us wif fresh water supply. Finally, it's a free of charge recreational area ... cos we spotted families picnic, kids splashing at the fountains and certainly a breezy place to fly kites! (Maybe we shld go fly kite too!)
We ended the excursion by self-taking pics at the fountain... haha! It was fun lo, cos had to time the fountain & the colours... thou we din manage to get the perfect shot, it was definately a good way to spend our weekend (^o^)
